New Handballs “HB350F” and “HB250F,” Designed for a Comfortable Grip, Now on Sale

Mikasa Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Mikasa”) is launching the new official handball competition balls, the “HB350F (Size3) and HB250F (Size2),” designed for ease of handling and superior grip performance.
These products have been adopted as the official match balls for the 2027 Japan National High School Comprehensive Sports Tournament and will go on sale sequentially starting in the first half of 2027 at the MIKASA Online Shop and sporting goods stores nationwide.

Based on players’ feedback, with a focus on developing a ball that is “easier to grip and maintain a firm hold even when wet with sweat”, we developed the new official handball competition balls: the HB350F (Size 3) and HB250F (Size 2).

■ Product Features
1． Non-Slip Surface Material
The surface has undergone a special treatment that provides superior grip, improving slip resistance even when wet from sweat or other sources.
Furthermore, adhesion to double-sided tape has been significantly improved, ensuring a stable grip during play.
In terms of design, the printed area has been reduced by approximately 84% compared to previous models. By minimizing the printed area, we created a design that maximizes the grip performance of the functional ball surface.

2． Improved Ease of Grip
The circumference of the balls defined by its design—has been set approximately 6 mm smaller than that of the previous model, resulting in a shape that is easier to grip.
Additionally, a new manufacturing method has been adopted to suppress ball expansion caused by repeated use. This minimizes size changes following repeated deformation and impact, reducing the expansion rate to approximately one-third that of the previous model.
As a result, the ball maintains its ease of grip even after long-term use.

3． High Durability
Regarding durability, we anticipated the use of double-sided tape—commonly used in handball—and adopted a highly durable material that resists surface peeling.
The ball maintains its performance even under rigorous conditions, ensuring reliable, long-term use.

4． High-Visibility Design
Based on feedback from players, we have adopted a highly visible pink color that stands out both on and off the court.
The contrast between pink and white makes the ball easy to spot in a variety of playing conditions, from well-lit gymnasiums to low-light environments.
