CEV and Mikasa unveil new Champions League volleyball in Vienna
Vienna, Austria, June 27, 2014. If last year’s European Volleyball Gala was marked by the launch of the CEV campaign “Fair Play Volleyball Way”, on Friday night Europe’s Volleyball family in attendance at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna got to witness another historic moment. On the stage set up in the former residence of the Habsburg dynasty, CEV President André Meyer and the Corporate Officer and General Manager of Mikasa, Daisuke Akiyama, unveiled the MVA200 CEV, the newly designed ball that will be used in all matches of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League. The MVA200 CEV is the first ball specifically designed for CEV who this way follows in the footsteps of other international sports organisations who have “customised” the features of their equipment in combination with major events or special actions.
The ball was designed jointly by CEV and its long-time partner Mikasa Corporation, which has been at the side of Europe’s Volleyball family for many years already. “This is a solid partnership and we are evidently happy with the cooperation that our Confederation and Mikasa have developed throughout the years,” the CEV President said. “We want to continue the same way knowing that Mikasa shares our ambition and strive to work for the good of Volleyball and to create innovative solutions for a bright future of our sport.”
See the news on CEV website for the official release of the ball during the Champions League Drawing of Lots in Vienna, Austria on June 26th 2014.
